It's a shame. Twice the url got hacked and 90% of the users stopped dropping by. Now I take it that the owner no longer wishes to pay for the URL - he asked after moderators, but nobody offered. The only way to get to the forum is if you use the link rmartin.proboards.com - thebagpipeforum.com no longer works. Some of the regulars keep dropping by, so you can get an answer to a question, but there may be a few days delay. Mind you, for some people that is actually better than a busier forum because you can come back to a discussion and continue it without either coming by every day, or else having to trawl through twenty pages to see what you said.

I check every once in a while, but things have really slowed down to a crawl.

4 answers in two months - and in the slow Summer season too - and 75 page views - still some life, but fairly exclusive...
At least if someone asks a question and comes back for an answer they should be able to find it !

I occaisionally find my way back to the forum. I used to watch it everyday but this year has been a busy one for me.

Ouch - a year between posts, although someone did contact me for bagpipe lessons a couple of years back and they're still playing, so there has been something positive from it,

It seems that nis the way it is going on a lot of sites. Just a few folks posting but it sure is not the same. I hav not posted in some time as it was getting harder and harder to log in. I couldn't understand if it was my old Dell from hell laptop or the new one. I also noticed that there wasn't much going on with the site. That is a shame. I do hope it picks up but in the case that is not what is to be I'd say it might just be the time to pick up and cop a walk. We shall see. K9piper

it seems that way and that's a shame. Every BP forum that I ever went on was full of useful tid bits of help which I feel makes a person a better piper. Some even offer a free speak pub setting wiich also have some good issues and talks and even good information. Maybe the social networking links the tweats and such are the now thing. I am sure keeping a site up and running has a lot of issues as well like money to run and time to keep things up and running as well as keeping a handle on things. Maybe a group sort of thing might be useful as well. It is a shame to see such forums fall to a new way or folks just being out of time and handling such a busy playing schedule or a family schedule. Just my take!

There are obviously a few people who check in occasionally for old times' sake, but it might not be possible for any new people to register. If it was, then the spammers would have inundated the site. For whoever has the admin rights, dealing with all that spam probably prevents them doing anything else, so they have had to leave it for the occasional visitors to drop in on. :-(

Just checking in for old times sake. Unfortunately, my situation is such that I have had to put the pipes away for a couple years, and will probably be at least 5 years before I might be able to start again. It's a real bummer, but I have so many other things going that interfere with practice - it is too discouraging to pick up my pipes on occasion and realize how much I have lost. I will pretty much have to start over when/if I get to return. Good luck to all rick

Sorry to hear that Rick, it seems like you have to keep stopping and starting. Each time you restart it should hopefully take less time to get back to where you were. It will be your frustration that makes it SEEM as if it's taking longer :-(

I was surfing the web when I accidentally found this forum again! I could not log in because I forgot my username and the forum could not send me my username because the email was from geocities.com, which no longer exist lol. I created a new account. Glad to see Greg and Rick are still here.
